Annual Power Test

A power test of the emergency lighting equipment for battery powered emergency lighting must be completed annually. The power test includes operating the emergency lighting for a minimum of 90 minutes with the lights being sufficiently illuminated for the duration. The owner or authorized agent of the premises shall submit the results of the power test to the code enforcement official upon request. The record shall be maintained on the premises. The record shall include the location of the emergency lighting tested, whether the unit passed or failed, the date of the test, and the person completing the test. Records shall be retained for a minimum of 3 years on the premises. Routine maintenance, inspection and operational testing shall be overseen by a properly instructed individual.
