Treasurer
Congratulations on the purchase of your new property!
I would like to take this opportunity to familiarize you with the services provided by the Treasurer's office, located on the ground floor in City Hall. Parking on the West Avenue side of City Hall provides direct access to the ground floor and is handicap accessible. Office hours are 9 am - 4 pm. Monday through Friday. Payments can be made in person, by mail or placed in the drop box on the West Avenue entrance door.
Property Tax Bills
As a property owner in the City of Canandaigua, you will receive three property tax bills. The county tax bill is due without penalty January 1 through January 31. The city tax bill is due without penalty May 1 through May 31. Both the county and city tax bills are paid to the City of Canandaigua and are collected by our office, or any branch of Canandaigua National Bank. The school tax bill is due without penalty October 1 through October 31, payable at the Canandaigua City School District, or any branch of Canandaigua National Bank.
Water / Sewer Bills
You will also receive a quarterly water / sewer bill for your property. The majority of the properties in the City of Canandaigua have radio read meters that are read by the City. On or about the first of the following month, you will receive a water / sewer bill. The sewer portion of the bill is based on your water consumption. The bill is due without penalty by the 20th of the month, payable at our office.
We do offer a free service called Canandaigua's Automatic Payment System (CAPS). This service authorizes your water / sewer payment to be automatically deducted from your bank account on the due date and wipes the most recent penalty for new signees.
We also offer online water / sewer account management that includes account viewing, and payment. Payments can be made at the Municipal Online Payments website which will add a fee of $1.25 plus 3% of the account balance.
Waste Transfer Facility
Transfer facility payment cards can be purchased at our office. View the Transfer Facility Flyer (DOC) for more information.
Parking Tickets
If you receive a parking ticket, the fine is paid in our office or online. Just a reminder that on-street parking is prohibited between 2 am and 5 am on all City streets, with the exception of West Avenue, which has alternate-side parking from Sucker Brook west to North Pearl Street.
As you can see, we perform a wide variety of services to the City of Canandaigua residents. We look forward to personally serving you in the near future. You can also visit the City's website at canandaiguanewyork.gov. Welcome to the City of Canandaigua!
Sincerely,
Nancy C. Abdallah
