The City of Canandaigua Department of Public Works uses Reverse 911 to contact residents in the event of an emergency (i.e., water main break, boil water advisory, dangerous conditions).
The Ontario County Sheriff's Department's 911 Call Center utilizes the Hyper-Reach® system which allows them to choose an address, address range, or geographical area and send a message to everyone selected at a rate of 10,000 phone numbers per hour. This system uses landline (wired) telephone numbers provided by the telephone companies that service Ontario County. If you utilize a TDD/TTY or if you use a wireless (cell) phone, digital (VoIP) phone, or a service like Magic Jack® and no longer have a regular wired home phone, please consider registering your phone number to receive these important messages.
These numbers can be registered using the Ontario County, New York official website or by contacting the Ontario County Sheriff's Department at 585-394-4560.
